Default Durham - "Tree Save Area"

My property (just bought new house) had a designated "Tree Save Area." Who has designated this? the city or county or some joint body? What are the regulations? Thanks, Judy

I think these are just reminders put up by builders so their subcontractors don't bulldoze everything in sight. I don't think it has any meaning aside from that, but I'm open to correction if anyone else has more detail.

It's a Durham County term. When subdivisions are designed, they are required to have a certain percentage of "tree save area." I'm not sure you have any obligations related to it, but if you look around the Durham County web site you can find the actual legislation (look under Policies & Ordinances).
