My high school sophomore recently took the 10th grade writing test and complained about the extremely poor grammar and lack of clarity in the question/instructions !!!

We did private school for many years and only had one year with EOG's (8th grade). I remember hearing about the math scores - students getting pulled out for mini study sessions, etc. I also heard about some students getting passed because "they were close." Funny, these are some of the same students now struggling with Algebra in 10th grade...(after failing it in 9th grade).

Wait until y'all deal with the EOC's. End of Class testing for English, Biology, Geometry, Algebra 1 and 2.., Civics and Economics, etc. Oh what fun.... students failing the class, failing the EOC (25% of the grade) and still get a D in the course.. it can and does happen....

Teaching estimation is great, but teaching preciseness with math is even more important. 1+1 should not equal between 0 and 5. Try that when doing your taxes or balancing your checkbook!
I am so glad to hear that. The whole entire time we lived in Wake County all I did was complain about that stupid trailblazers math. They should have been rid of it years ago.

When I read the thread, the first thing I felt like saying was "it's trailblazers math so nothing surprises me".
