Where to buy a garbage disposal in Raleigh
Other than Home Depot, who has a good selection of garbage disposals in Wake Co.? In 3 short years, the second of my "upgraded" GE package appliances has broken beyond repair. First it was the fridge, now this. Needless to say, I am looking for GE alternatives.

Do you have personal experience with InSinkErator?
I know that Home Depot carries that brand exclusively. Maybe there just isn't much choice beyon InSinkErator and GE???

Honestly, my disposer isn't something I think about. They just work. Never had to replace one.
The one I have now is InSinkErator, and I think at least some of my prior homes had that too. Seems to work just fine.
If I was replacing one, I'd focus on larger HP motor and sound-deadening.
You might try posting in the House forum - there are some good experts there.

I have an InSinkErator and it's lasted 12 years so far. It's jammed up a few times but nothin a few turns of the allen wrench couldn't fix.

I think it's actually now "illegal" to install disposals or replace existing disposals in Raleigh.
"To cut down on sewer back-ups, the Raleigh City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to prohibit new garbage disposals from being installed or connected to the municipal sewer system.
The new ordinance takes effect March 17 for customers in Raleigh, Garner, Knightdale, Rolesville, Wake Forest, Wendell and Zebulon. Violators face fines of up to $25,000 a day and the loss of their water service.
Homeowners and businesses can continue using existing disposals – city officials have encouraged them to voluntarily disconnect the devices – but they cannot be replaced under the ordinance if they conk out."

You're right, they did rescind it after a month.

I saw some at Sears when I was buying a new range hood. But I normally find Home Depot and Lowes to be a bit less expensive.
