I noticed some survey stakes (pic below) at an intersection near my house. I guess the city was out surveying today for some reason. When I was cutting my lawn later I noticed that somebody had dug up a small area of my planting bed (actually part of my neighbors bed) to uncover my property corner pin (2nd pic). This pin is located on the interior of my propery about 50' away from the street. I am assuming it was done by the people surveying the intersection. Is it common for surveyors to come onto private property to find a corner pin to survey off of? If find this a little odd.

Survery steak at intersection within line of site of my house.

My property corner pin. Marks the property line between my yard and my neighbors yard. (This is how I found it today)

Yes.....it is common. How else would they be able to locate the property corner?

You should see how big a hole they dig in sod to find the pin! :-(
