Yes...that's correct. As far as I know, there are no current plans for turning Womble Park or Bass Lake into landfills.

This is the sad truth...the whole western half of Apex is assigned to schools outside the town as of last year...some to Panther Creek in Morrisville, and some to Holly Springs High in Holly Springs....both brand new schools that opened this year with just freshman and sophomores.

I had to chime-in...

We just got back from visiting Raleigh a few weeks ago to find a house. After a long morning of driving around Apex, Holly Springs, and Fuquay Varina, we decided we can't live in any of these communities. They are charming, developing, and seem nice...but we really wanted coffee and looked it up on our GPS unit. The nearest coffee shop was in Cary from HS -- over 10 miles away. I am sure things will grow quickly there, but my wife & I couldn't be that far from a decent espresso.

(And as I re-read this...gawd I feel like a yuppy!) :-(

Your GPS unit needs an upgrade. There are 4 coffee shops in Holly Springs...

It was not a joke. That is what came up when we were driving around Holly Springs. I'll give you the GPS upgrade -- we got the unit from Hertz -- but we drove with our realtor in the front seat and for hours did not pass a coffee shop...so we finally put a stop to the hunting and drove to Cary. Maybe we were just a street over from something we missed, but I was shocked. I'm currently in the Dallas area -- moving to Raleigh in a couple months.

I think your realtor doesn't know the area very well if you couldn't find a coffee shop in Apex! I can't speak for Holly Springs but I know we have at least 2 or 3 right on Rt 55 (the main drag).

Now, if you wanted a nice Big Gulp or Slurpee.. sadly, we have no 7-11's at all!

If that's the case, then I vote Apex.

Wow, I can think of about 5 coffee shops off the top of my head in HS. I know for a fact there's one in the Harris Teeter shopping center across from Holly Springs Elementary. Your GPS needs an upgrade in the worst way!

But I feel your pain -- the areas in and around Raleigh are developing so fast, GPS can't keep up. My maps are from 2004 and seriously like half of the Triangle it seems isn't in there.
