Default Apex or Holly Springs?Which would you choose?

Hi everybody!

Ok i heard & read alot on both areas being Apex & Holly Springs. Its about 50/50 from those i spoke to. Some people are telling us that Apex is the much nicer area and much better schools then is Holly Springs, and of course some people from Holly Springs told me the opposite.

Can I please get some opinions? I will most likley be working in either Cary(near the whole foods market area) or the RTP area.

We have 2 young kids, one starting school this year. So schools are important for sure.

And Location is a big priority, as far as being closer to work, being in a safe area, but yet in our price range.

We do not want to be to close to the ground fill/dump that we heard is coming soon.

I noticed that the homes in Holly Springs seem a bit cheaper, and you can get more for your money.

I would like to hear your input on choosing Apex or Holly Springs and why one is better then the other.

Thank you!

Apex.

Broad range of housing choices.
Good Schools.
Easy to get to/from Whole Foods.

Nothing against Holly Springs.

The more desireable areas of Wake County are North Raleigh and Cary. So...as you branch out, the out lying areas do tend to be less expensive.
North Raleigh branches out towards Wake Forest.
Cary branches out towards Apex on one side and Morrisville on the other side.
From there, Holly Springs and Fuquay.
All schools in these areas are Wake County Public Schools but yes, different schools are somewhat better than others.

Hope this helps,

Vicki

DEfinately Apex. I think of Holly Springs as being too far "out there". But obviously that's my opinion. I hear great things about Apex for kids/schools.

Holly Springs if you can't spend over $200k on a house -- for ~$180k, you'll get WAY more house for your money.

Also, the schools in HS are well regarded just as Apex/Cary ones are.

We chose HS because Apex seemed to commercial to us. We wanted that small town feel which we got with HS. I am VERY happy with our kids schools in HS. I think given that schools are run by the county, you are safe with either HS or Apex. Bear in mind, parts of Apex were recently reworked to now have a HS address so had you bought a house a few years ago in Apex, you could now live in HS!. Our house is on the Cary line in HS (formerly an Apex address) so we are close to things we need that are not in HS. I think the closer you get to Fuquay you may feel that "too far out" feeling. I think you have to go with what is right for your family. Lots of great information here on this board but obviously people are going to "vote" for the town they choose and how it worked for THEIR family.

Good luck!

From what I understand the dump is going to be over by 55 (the Apex side of HS) but I could be wrong. There has been talk about the dump on this board so I bet someone here knows better info than me.

My husband works at RTP. He leaves Holly Springs around 7:30 and gets to RTP in about 35-40 minutes.

Does anyone know where the new Super Walmart is going to be?

do a search on "landfill". I asked the same question a few wks ago and a kind poster posted a link to a map of the area showing exactly where the landfill will be.
