India Palace on Airport Blvd.

Although looks like they changed their name; not sure if ownership changed.

I do not go to Golden Corral, and I never will again, but I must disagree that it's all "horrible for you."

When I went there, I had baked chicken, green salad with oil and vinegar, and fresh fruit. Three or four chocolate-covered strawberries. Not horrible for me.

- Rudino's pizza buffet (Miami Blvd near I-40)
Totally agree on China Thai. Always spot-on (Except the wings are so damn good that you have to be fast to get some)

My other favorite is Con-Fusion, up near Alexander and Miami (behind the Sheets). Sushi, Vietnemise Spring Rolls, and lots of other good and unique things. $8.99 and really really good.

Sal's has a good pizza buffet, but I'm partial to Randy's 2 slices and a drink.

For Indian Buffet my favorite is Spice and Curry (behind Taco Bell on 54/55), and my second fav is Tandoor, down 54 about a mile from hwy 55.

It's been years since I went to Gov's Inn (at the Radisson), but I recall the food was prety upscale, and the buffet price was around $10 then. A little bit much for lunch, but a REALLY good value, and a great place for a business lunch. I have no idea if they are still as good, better or worse though, it's been a long time.

The RTP Hilton has a good lunch buffet.
Kandas an Indian restaurant off of 54 is also quite good.

This isn't a buffet, but I wanted to share that at the office tomorrow, we're getting food brought in from Eastern Lights on University Dr in Durham. Mmmmmm, delicious.

It is just general "American fare" type buffet. Usually there are some salads, fish, cooked veggies, meat (generally a roast with a "carving station"), and lots of dessert. I've never had to pay because I usually get taken there when out-of-town managers come, but I believe that it is in the $10 a person range.
They do have wait service and they also have a regular lunch menu.

People with the negative reaction to Golden Corral and Souper Salad:
I personally don't care for those places, but I'm certain that there are some people on this board that enjoy those buffets. To each their own, you know?
As for Golden Corral's food being "horrible for you", I doubt that it is any worse than a Chinese food buffet from a nutrition and food safety standpoint.

What amazes me is that Golden Corral has people who love it. I have relatives that love it and I hate having to drive by one all the time. I really thing they pump something in the atmosphere to disgust you if you don't like their food. On the other hand I think what they pump draws people in from the highway who are addicted. Why are they so often near highways? Can't they get people to make a few turns to get there? Maybe it is to help with the drive home as the cholesterol is racing through their veins blocking oxygen flow to their brains.

Last time I was forced by relatives to go to one it smelled like a nursing home. Hmmmmmm.

I used to hate GC but recently I decided to give it another try about 10 years after my last visit. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The variety, quality, and freshness of the food was way better than I remember from years ago. It's still not my favorite restaurant but I can see why people like it.
