Default Any info on Village Lakes Subdivision???

My husband and I are starting the painstaking task of buying our first home... and we stumbled across so many houses in the Village Lake Subdivision in Raleigh. It seems that there are so many for sale in that neighborhood! Does anyone know anything about the neighborhood good or bad? I just want to make sure we know what we are getting in to!

Thanks in advance

Default I live in Village Lakes

I love it. It's safe, quiet and very family friendly. Conveniently located to all the major highways with amenities such as a pool and tennis courts. The only con is that because most of the homes (well, on my side of the subdivision) have one-car garages, there are a lot of people who park on the street. The HOA is, however, working to address this problem.

I hope the process is painstaking because you have so much to chose from
I WISH I were a first time home buyer right now... crazy low rates, an 8K tax credit, and a buyers market. It's like house-hunting paradise!

So glad to come across this post. We're going house shopping in that neighborhood within the next month as well. The prices, square footage and lot size are all unbeatable. I have noticed a lot of on-street parking, but that's everywhere (in my price range, at least). I really want to know about safety/kids roaming around issues...

Hi! I'm new to this site, just posted a reply for you but think I selected the wrong post! So here goes...I've lived in VL since 2000, also lived in zip 27605. I've looked at other neighborhoods for same price but many for significantly more, and they don't measure up to our amenities and features in VL homes. If the price works for you, the location is one of the most convenient I've seen. You'll find it safe, and a great place for families. My kids have loved growing up here. From the playground to pool and tennis, as well as lots of places to walk/bike lots to discover at the ponds..we have blue herons lizzards, ducks, geese, beavers. The farm next to VL has a co-op for around $300-400? yes, too much on street pkg on some streets - Hanska mostly. It was built last, that builder made the lots smaller. Our sister community is Park Village, Cary, also built by Sunstar. We've had other bldrs here too. Knightdale with new shops is 5mins, Triangle Town Mall is 10 mins max, d/town &N. Hills 10-15 mins. Schools - Hodge Rd elem, no problem, nice teachers and admin who stay on top of things. Carnage MS is hit or miss. But there are other schools you can apply to such as Heritage Wake Forest as a yr rd option - love it! The kids in the neighborhood love to be outside, never had a problem with them. They ride their bikes all over and play safely. Just like neighborhoods used to be yrs ago!
Good luck! It's a big decision...
