i saw a lot of roads like this driving down from MA, and it freaked me out. we have a fast lane pass, but i take it out of the console and hold it up for that once a month trip down the MassPike. so i'd see signs for toll road stuff, then i'd see like a little pole overhead, and i'm like...where's the booths? i dunno, that was 3.5 months ago, and i haven't gotten a bill. so either it read it in my console, they're really backed up, they don't send bills for out of staters, or the thing's a scam and no one gets bills.

Anybody know when they will do the next portion south of Raleigh. The southern wake county freeway over to 401 and 40?

I'll gladly pay the toll to not have to deal with the wonderful I-40/Wade Ave/SAS Institute split...not to mention, I usually start sitting in traffic when I leave my driveway... to all those not in favor, drive a different road....pretty simple with no further discussion needed when you add toll roads...(I'd love to see a Dunkin Donuts rest area on the side of this toll road).... :-)

I don't even think NCDOT knows at this point.

Do you have any more information about the project???? Is there a website? Do you know when in particular the construction will start?

Six lanes should do the trick for now. Plus if they keep the dedicated exit and entrance lanes, there will be eight lanes between the interchanges.
IMHO six lanes will probably not do the trick. Couple of years ago, read an aticle in the paper in DC about the traffic engineers realizing that the problem isn't the number of lanes, its the psychology of the driver.

The more exits/entrances/merges you have the slower the traffic is going to be.

Unfortunately the engineers down here haven't figured that out yet.
Look at many of the traffic 'issues' in our area and you can see bad road planning behind them.

Yes, those gifted traffic engineers up in DC obviously know better because the interchanges up there are just so generously spaced and, well, the traffic congestion there is practically nonexistent...

The problem is not bad planning. It's bad politics.

Does anyone know if they are planning to complete the Triangle Parkway all the way to McCrimmon Pkwy? All the article posted at the start of this thread said was that it would run from 147 to 540... the plan as I understand it (and per the big sign on McCrimmon Pkwy.) is to have it connect to Town Hall Drive in Morrisville at McCrimmon. Anyone know if that is still the plan? It would be nice to leave my house, take one left, a right to get on Town Hall Dr, and end up in Ga... LOL!

You mean RTP? People living in Fuquay, Holly Springs, and parts south can get to work without sitting in the bottleneck mess in Apex! What a nightmare.
