Darn Vinyl Shutters (car, stainless steel, place)

Anyone else have issues with their vinyl shutters?
It seems like every year I have one falling off the brick facade of our house.
These things are mounted into holes drilled in the masonry with vinyl 'screws' the threads acting as grippers against the masonry.
Every year it gets warm and the temperature change starts making them snap in two, and eventually we get shutters falling off the house.

Then to fix them you have to drill the broken end out of the masonry and stick another one of these plastic screws in there. (grumble)

I had this same issue. I had to get a guy to make small wood blocks (6 per shutter), mount them to the masonry with morter and a screw (in a different spot than the old screw went), then screw the shutters into the wood blocks. That has worked quite well but took the dude FOREVER.

Why not use stainless steel or brass screws for replacement?

Yeah, if the plastic screws are the problem, it seems rather silly to put another back in its place.

A dab of liquid nails (or something similar) in the hole, stainless steel screw, then paint the screw head to match the shutter. Should work.

For something stronger, use a masonry anchor. Since the hole is already there, the hard part is already done. You should be able to hang a Smart Car from one of those.
