He he, CNNCSMOMNDAD, I wouldn't mind a chain but would hate for it to be a BBQ place--I'm one of the eastern NC BBQ-haters and I know that's what it would be! I hope someone makes a go of it there. From the interest on this thread it's apparent that we south Cary people are itching for a good restaurant down here!

Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. This whole saga has been pretty interesting to watch. I know it's tough to have success in the restaurant business, but I always figured a lot of the challenge had to do with the fickleness of customers. How many failed restaurants out there were simply sabotaging themselves like this?

Have you tried Dickey's Barbecue Pit at Crossroads?
Personally, I don't like it and I think it's expensive, but you might want to try it.

Please no BBQ in this spot. It should remain a pub of some sorts...at least something with a diverse menu so as to please everyone in our group.

And honestly, what I'm about to type will produce daggers so I'm grabbing my shield. We liked Tony C's, if nothing but for the proximity of such a place. We would really hate to see a place with a very specific menu.

Don't get us wrong, we like Mexican (La Cocina off of 64 rocks), we like Italian (lots to choose from), we like Sushi (plenty to choose from), we like BBQ (Danny's is close enough), we like subs (heck Jersey Mikes & 2 Subways in spitting distance), we like Chinese (many close enough).

Hopefully it remains a restaurant, and something like pub style food, the many TV's were a hit with my crew. It was a proximity, very friendly waitstaff, proximity, we didn't hate the food at all, proximity, Grandmas pizza was nice and proximity.

BTW--we are local to this place and I've been tempted to comment so many times over the months, but don't think I ever did. I'm not about to go back through this many posts. It was a bit too passionate and emotional in my view. I hope the new place, should it be a place to eat, enjoys a good soft opening and a chance to get the kinks out.

I'm not a fan of eastern NC bbq either. Give Danny's BBQ a whirl (one on Tryon near Kildaire and one on 54 near cary parkway). Good stuff.

Drove by last week and they were pulling signs off building. Usually, when places go out of business like this, it sits for a while with the old signs in place, furniture inside, etc. I've never seen such a "clean up" after a closed business. Perhaps this this is a sign that something is going to happen there sooner than later?

Anyone heard anything?
