Default fuquay varina??

does anyone know how the schools, crime, life in general is in fuquay varina?? Is it near any major hospitals?? How far from Duke?? Wake Med?? any other community hospitals that may need RN's. The homes seem to be on larger lots and more reasonably priced...any assistance would be greatly appreciated!! It seems that NC will be a great place to live, I think we're gonna take a trip down soon to look around and i think that this may be the area that we look!!

Western Wake Med in Cary is expanding an always continuing to do so. I live 1 mile from it and worked there myself until I went into Real Estate. There are many ways to get here from FV in about 20 minutes. As for Duke...since you would have to experience the RTP traffic it would be a nightmare if you did the day shift. I worked there for 2 wks and quit.

FV is growing and does offer more home & land for the money. My question would be how much travel time and traffic do you want to handle? It is not close proximity to many of the high demand work areas, malls, etc. But on the other hand you do not have to deal with the everyday traffic for everyday life like we do in Cary. It all has its balance of what you are looking for.
As for the schools in FV, they are School of Progress.

I live in Fuquay and I like it a lot. The area has a few major stores like Wal Mart and Home Depot and plenty of restaurants. Plus, we're about 15-20 minutes to all the shopping centers in Cary. Like I tell my home buyers, you can get more house out here (generally speaking) for the money. It will take you longer to get to the highways, so depending on where your work is, that may be a consideration. But there is a proposal to get 540 out here in the next couple of years.

The elementary school my son's preschool is in (he has Autism so his preschool is part of the school system) is great, but that's the only first-hand knowledge I have with the schools, but their scores are decent. You can go to this site and check out each of the schools and how they scored. http://www.ncschoolreportcard.org/src/

The closest hospital would be Wake Med in Cary. About a 15 minute drive. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions about the town.

We bought our house in Nov in Fuquay, though only there part-time.. but we LOVE it! and can't wait to live there permantly. The people are really nice, plenty of stores and only about 20 min to Crabtree Mall. It's a little town but does have traffic on roads (not much compared to here in Va Beach) but enough to make you feel your not out in the middle of no where. It's got (2) cute down-town areas and some little shops.
I don't know anything about schools but it's all run by wake cty schools. There are plenty of play-grounds for the kids and a cute little library. You should check it out.
Good luck!

We have friends that live in FV and they love it. We were there last week checking it out, and I fell in love. We currently live in New York, but are planning another trip down in June/July to look around some more and hopefully make a decision!

Sorry, that really doesn't answer your questions, but I just wanted to say how nice it was.

I love Fuquay-Varina as well. I really no nothing about the schools. It is Wake co. though. That means they are probably pretty solid. Wake Med is not far...maybe 15-20 minutes.

The only problem with Fuquay, and this is only opinion, there are no major roads connecting Fuquay to the rest of Wake Co.

Sure there is 401....but what a headache. Tons of stoplights. All two lane roads to Cary as well. Fuquay really is not that far from anywhere, but throw in the stop lights, and the traffic....and it takes a while to get to parts of Raleigh.

Fuquay is booming, and we are going to have real problems in the future. Our local roads are filling up, what will it be like in 10 years? All we have is 401 and 55....then some very narrow 2 lane roads off of 401. It is already a mess on these two lane roads during rush hour. Then they built a new drug store downtown....off of a very hectic intersection....401/55/42. I don't know what the city was thinking. But that spot is a mess! It would have been the perfect place for a traffic circle. We will pay in the future though.
