Well, I'm new here, but I'm in a unique situation so I wanted to speak up. We have lived in North Carolina, Raleigh that is, for nine years. 1999-2008. We moved away for a few months. We're moving back soon. We have been in a large Metropolitan area up North now, and I totally didn't realize how "sheltered" our kids were until we moved up here. On several occasions, strangers on the street, and people in grocery stores were just plain rude and clearly annoyed with nothing really. Just under a lot of stress I guess. Our kids are not little; my twelve year old son is taller than me and a real leader type personality. But even he was shocked at the things people say here, that we personally did not experience during those years in Raleigh. That's why my name here is "MissingNC". Just thought I'd add my experience from my little corner of the world. I know now there really some truth to "Southern Hospitality". By the way, I grew up in the Midwest where people are just wonderful, but not in the same way that North Carolinians are.
