This little Piggie went to NC!
Congrats...looking forward to your take on living here. Just remember to not complain about the day off from work when it snows and leave the "Back home we did things this way" comments...and you'll be fine.
Oh...and don't ask what the big deal is about iced tea. d'oh!

so just a little update. we had a hell of a drive down in the moving truck, and the whole loading and unloading was a real pain. but we're here! we got here saturday afternoon, had dinner in north hills at the midtown again because my mom and mother in law and wife were here, and they all loved it as much as i had. the apartment is amazing, the people we meet everywhere have been so friendly. random people on the streets or in a store, neighbors, coworkers, staff in stores and restaurants... while we obviously don't have any friends yet, we've met a lot of really nice people. and it's only been 2 days. just started my orientation at work today and i'm really excited. the drive from brier creek to northern sanford took me 41 minutes this morning. 10 minutes of busy highway (but not congested), and 30 minutes of empty highway (rt 1S). beautiful drive. tonight we're making dinner and having some wine in our new kitchen and will eat on our balcony. this is heaven!

Let me know if you need any help emptying those bottels of wine! My wife and I have been to Midtown Before. Nice place with a great wine selection.

Seriously though, welcome to the Triangle!

Not meaning to burst your bubble, just trying to offer a reality check...
but a bit of what you have stated above is due to "Rose-colored glasses syndrome".
It's common when one first moves to a new area.

Some bubbles don't burst. Been here over a year now and still feel the same exhuberance for the area.

Wow, your apartment looks so much nicer than mine did. Are those solid surface counter tops!? Welcome!
