Peak Fitness in Apex no longer Peak? (Durham: bankruptcy, closing)

I joined Peak Fitness in Apex about 6 months ago on a 2 year deal with my wife. I have used this gym for a while but switched to using the Peak gym in Fuquay . I went into the Fuquay Peak last night and the guy told me that Apex Peak has now switched back to its old gym company K2 or Kq something like that and they are no longer part of Peak Fitness and all members that joined Apex are no longer recognized in any other Peak Fitness gyms?? Does anyone know if they can do this? Part of the reason for joining Peak was their 12 locations in the triangle?

The same thing happened in Durham. We joined the location on 15/501, but we used the Farrington location more often b/c they had a better selection of bikes and it's closer to our house. The Farrington location changed management and now we're only able to use locations that are specifically Peak Fitness - mainly 15/501 since it's the next closest location to us.
