Hi everyone!
We are moving from a suburb of NYC to Chapel Hill.
I am looking to get some sense of average costs of:

1. Utilities (gas/electric)
2. Water/sewer
3. Cable

We are a family of 4 (mom, dad, 2 girls)

Looking in Lake Hogan Farms & Wexford...probably a 3,300 sq ft. sized house.

Any info would be really helpful.
Thanks!

I live in a comparably sized house in Chapel Hill.

Gas/Electric - of course, this depends on which appliances use which, and how hot/cold you like it in the house. I have gas heat, but electric water heaters. Gas bills are high in the winter, electric bills are high in the summer. My totals are about $400/mo. (I heat to 70 in the winter and cool to 76 in the summer.)

Water - in the winter months, our bill is about $50-$60 a month. In the summer, when our irrigation system is on, it's about $120 a month.

Cable - I have a cable/internet/phone package that is about $180/month (I think mine was, until recently, called "Digipic 1000"). Of course, there are all kinds of cable packages. You can find Time Warner's pricing on their web site.

Thanks CHTransplant, for the realistic picture of potential expenses. They are a bit higher than I expected...I'm glad I asked!

Go to the utility websites, look at the rates, and multiply by them by the amount of gas, electric you use now.

Someone else's utility bills are not going to mean much--too many variables.
