ie something reasonably priced (hopefully under $20).....I can always hit places like Hair Cuttery in a pinch, but they're a little dicey.

Not sure what NW of RL is exactly, but Handsome Floyds off of Creedmoor near 540 is a local owned small business and he cuts hair nicely.

Sorry it's not closer, but I like my barber near Kroger's in E. Raleigh. I like the idea the same guy owns the place AND cuts hair. I think it's Steve's Barber Shop.

Thx

NW = northwest. Basically up around Morrisville or points (moderately) east, roughly near 540.

Went there once, it's ok if you want a $40 haircut (counting tip). Even though the great clips, etc are dicey, I'll glady pay $12 for a really short doo that I normally get.

Repeating: $20 or less. Pref less.

PS by "barber" I simply mean someone who cuts hair. Beautician or hair stylist or whatever. Basically someone who knows what they're doing and won't just whack off around the ends. Thx

Oh okay...so not a barber who does underwater cross stitching in the nude?

Tim's Barbershop is off of 55 and Carpenter Fletcher going towards S Alston Street. $13, great cut and they do white and black people (just in case you care)

?? As opposed to all the barbers out there who only cut hair for one race?

I couldn't care less how "diverse" it is or isn't, if that's what you mean. I only care they aren't real expensive, aren't too far away, and know what they're doing - thx

Great Clips works for me. Simple. Cheap. No brainer. All NW Raleigh locations: Great Clips - Salon Locator

My husband used to love Great Clips, but our location closed and the one at Brier Creek gave him a big red rash across the back of his neck. We landed at the SportsClips (by the Pei Wei across from Brier Creek) and he loved his cut. I think it was $14 for the basic cut without all the head massage/hot towel nonsense.

I don't think tluv00 was trying to be racist... one of the barbershops my husband tried (in the search for the elusive great cut at SportsClips) seemed to be mainly African-American. He felt uncomfortable because the barber didn't know what to do with him (all he said was "I like what I have, I just need it shorter because it's starting to get wavy" which is probably a pretty typical request from a guy). He came back from his haircut and I couldn't tell he had it done and he needed to shell out for another haircut a few days later. I don't know if it was a race thing or just lack of skill/experience, but it was obviously outside of the barbers' comfort zone. So yeah, I'd imagine that much like hairstylists can cater to either men or women, they may also be more proficient with one type of hair. Who knows. I didn't see it as patently offensive though.
