So it seems like the question everyone wants to know...Where do I start I have been looking on line and reading all of these post but I am a single mom of four not looking for a 400K house but maybe one around 160-190K. I want a good school for my kids and a nice neighborhood for them to be in but its so hard to know where to begin my search i will be down the 3rd week of may and i want to make sure I have a good game plan.. Any advice. I work from home so commute and travel time to anywhere is not an issue for me. I already have a real estate agent who has been helping me but I would appreaciate any advice from anyone...

This is what I tell my clients..........do some research on schools (greatschools.net, wcpss.net) and see what you think about the various schools. Decide what kind of home do you want to live in, what type of neighborhood, how close do you want it to "things", do you have to be 10 minutes from the nearest grocery store, or do you prefer a more country feel? Would you entertain the idea of a townhouse, or do you only want a single family home?
At your price point, you are going to have options, but you need to do research on the various towns where the houses are located. All of the surrounding towns in the triangle have different feels to them, and when you come and visit you will be able to determine the places you like more. I have had people come to town set on cary, then they visit and don't like it, same with other towns. You are in a great situation in that you work from home so you are not trying to determine commuting and schools! So, enjoy that, and you can concentrate more on the schools and type of neighborhood you would like to live in. Hope this helps Leigh |
