Default Super Wok in Cary - best Chinese in area?

I've been to Super Wok several times and love it. I think it's the best Chinese I've had in the area. It seems hard to convince them that Americans want the spicy food as it was designed, but so far it's worked out. Today I ordered something that was denoted on the menu as spicy and it was anything but, but they may have actually given me the wrong order (still good though).

Chinese food in this area has been a disappointment to me in the 7+ yrs I've lived here. That said, my fav chinese-ish restaurant is PF Chang's. It's more Chinese-bistro than authentic Chinese, but it's very, very good, and I always have a good meal there. I stay away from the big Chinese buffets in the area because the food just doesn't seem very good (to me). I'm spoiled though, because I lived in San Francisco where you can get some of the world's best Chinese food.

This of course is a very subject matter. To me, the best Chinese food in the Bay area can be found in the silicon valley, where a lot of white color new Chinese immigrants live. Food in SF Chinatown is a little too old fashioned and/or too much catered to tourists.

If "authenticity" is the objective, "35" in Cary and "Chinatown" in Morrisville are among the most favored by the local Chinese in the triangle area.

I haven't been to Super Wok, but I'm sure seeing a lot of discussion of it lately. From what I've heard, one of the chefs just took over the show fairly recently. The N&O ran a good review Memorable dishes don't get lost in translation - Restaurant Reviews - News & Observer (http://www.newsobserver.com/1132/story/1506612.html - broken link) and there is some lengthy discussion on local "foodie" bulletin boards (e.g. chowhound). It sounds like it isn't your average NC Chinese restaurant, which could be good...

The best Chinese around here, by far, is Jin Yuan's near Creedmoor and Milbrook. The service is great also.

Asian Aroma in Morrisville is pretty good too (my favorites so far are their roast duck, salt-pepper squid, and Cantonese beef noodle soup)! I posted about this place earlier: Authentic Food?

I like Orient Garden in Durham, Cary, and Morrisville. Orient Garden Restaurant Morrisville, Cary, Durham

I like Neo-China in Cary/Raleigh/Durham. The Cary one had dim sum on Saturday's and Sunday's mmm. http://www.neo-china.com/

I think PF Chang's is great too (even if some are against chains) in Raleigh/Durham. Relatively cheap and an inventive menu. P.F. Chang's China Bistro

I went to Super Wok today, probably my 4th or 5th time there. I like it; it reminds me of my mom's cooking.

Super Wok (Cary) is the best of the Chinese restaurants I've tried in the area (at least a dozen). It has filled the hole left by the closing of Red Palace (Raleigh). Plus, Wendy is a sweetheart of a hostess/waitress.
