LOL! Wake County is one of the most desirable places for families in the country.

School overcrowding and school district rezoning have become BIG problems in recent years. Johnston county, where I live has not had this problem as of yet. Durham County, Orange County, Chatham County, and Franklin County all border Wake County and most are within a few minutes drive of Cary depending on traffic. Orange County has some of the top rated schools in the area and Johnston County is a close second.
LOL....you have got to be kidding? While Chapel Hill schools (different then Orange County) would be great if we had jobs in the area and could afford a nice home....I'll take Wake County schools over any of the outlaying rural areas any day of the week.

Brownsugah is on a distinguished road
Great post sswaring! I'm in the same situation. I'm thinking about moving to Raleigh from CT and I have a 14year old daughter. My main concern is the getting my daughter in a decent school after that everything else for me will fall in place. My difficulty is weeding through all the schools and what they have to offer. I've also decided to go down in Aug and look around. Just thinking about moving is overwhelming and I try not to freak out but I'm determined to move before my daughter enters HS in Sept 2010.
