Amberly
Well, we finally bought a home in the triangle (Amberly)after months of searching.
Can some Amberly/Carolina Preserve/Cary Park residents please weigh in on the amenities in the area. Pizza, Chinese, Coffee Shops, Banking, Dry Cleaners, etc.
These weren't important decisions in our home search but now that we are committed, I'd like to get some opnions

Additionally, if you exit Amberly from McCrimmon Pkway, turn right onto Rt 55. Turn left onto High House Rd (about 1-2 miles). 1 mile down (on your left) is Stone Creek shopping center.
In addition to the usual Harris Teeter, Walgreens, there are the following:
Chick Fil A
Five Guys (awesome burgers)
Z Pizza (really good, you can get whole wheat crust)
Planet Smoothie
Red Bowl (Asian fare)
Kilwin's (ice cream/candy)
Greek Fiesta (pretty decent fast food Greek)
Coffee Grind (great coffeehouse, pastries, Wi-Fi)
Chop House Grille (steaks, chicken etc)
Several gift/clothing stores
Plus more....
Hope this helps!

Amberly
Thank you both. Have either of you tried the Italian or Chinese restaurants in the strip just outside of Amberly on Carpenter Station Rd?

You may have to venture further out into central/downtown Cary where you can find some great restaurants. Italian: Vespa in downtown Cary on Academy St. It's about 11 miles from Amberly, but close to a bunch of restaurants and stores & shops.

We've lived in Amberly for almost 2 years now. Here's our choices for the above:
Pizza - Randy's Pizza at McCrimmon Corners (Davis and McCrimmon)
Chinese - We don't really eat it, and I've heard Spring Garden at Cary Park Town Center isnt great
Coffee Shop - It's a Grind on High House or Dunkin on 55
Banking - The Bank of America ATM inside Harris Teeter at Cary Park
Dry Cleaners - We were planning on switching to the new cleaners at Cary Park Town Center
I think you'll find the neighborhood has a great location (15 mins to Southpoint, Beaver Creek or Brier Creek) and lots of potential for growth. I just saw them put up a sign at the future Amberly Town Center (O'Kelly Chapel and Yates Store). Lots of projects in the area were on hold due to the economy which are now starting to perk up again.

I'm a Cary Park resident. Welcome to the Green Level to Durham neighborhoods! Funny thing about NW Wake County, we don't really feel that beholden to Cary (our mailing address) or anywhere else. It's like being a citizen of the Triangle.
I have gone drive door to door from my house to Maggiano's at Southpoint in 16 minutes, so the stores in that direction are as much in contention as Beaver Creek or Brier Creek when we head out to shop.
In addition to the amenities on 55 and High House, we also drive up 55 to the 54/55 intersection area in SW Durham for conveniences such as oil changes, Papa Johns, Kinkos/Fed Ex, etc. I get my hair cut at a little salon off 55 up there, Le Paris Spa.
More will come our way for sure in the coming years, but until then, we're enjoying shops in all directions. Enjoy your new home!

Thanks for all the info on Amberly, my parents are moving down and I think Carolina Preserve would be great for them. I was worried about being away from things. Also have a relative interested in Amberly, do you think it will continue to grow or be left half finished? THanks for your input.

I highly doubt it will be half finished. According to the developer, Amberly continues to be one of the best performing communities in the Triangle. Del Webb (Carolina Preserve) is really helping the Amberly HOA by continuing to sell units which helps financially strengthen the overall community. Everyone we know who lives in Carolina Preserve loves it, and apparently the construction there is not too bad (Pulte can have a bad reputation, but apparently that particular community is fairly well built).
Tonight we noticed a number of houses now under contract in Village Square, so things are continuing to sell (and maintain their value, per wakegov.com). Also unlike some other developments, Village Square at Amberly is not 1 builder - it's a group of 10-12 local builders so it's highly unlikely the whole group would go out of business.
