Best Schools in Wake/Durham/Orange/Johnston Counties
Hi...
I have an opportunity to move with my company to NC. I must reside in Wake/Durham/Orange/ or Johnston County. Which would be the most affordable area with the best schools? We would need a large house and large yard (family of 6). We like woodsy areas with nice parks, reasonable drive to shopping, etc. That's about it!
Thoughts?

Most affordable would be Johnston County in my opinion. Riverwood school district is very good as well as a few others. It may be a bit too far to commute if you are working in RTP. Least affordable would probably be Orange County.

but chapel hill/carrboro definitely has best schools...but taxes are high.

You could certainly find what you're looking for in northern Durham...especially north of I-85 and along the Eno River close to the Orange County line.

CH is not the only town in Orange County
there is also Hillsborough, which might suit your needs.
