Default Raleigh Memorial Auditorium seating question

Are the orchestra pit seats any good? I'm looking at a couple of tickets for the Decemberists tomorrow night and someone has some tickets in Section B row J.

Also, how's the viewing from the mezzanine? Never been to the auditorium so I have no idea what it's like.

These are excellent seats - usually considered "dress circle" depending upon the performance. They are near the back of the Orchestra on the left side (but not so far to the side that you see into the wings). My favorite seats are the first few rows of the mezzanine (Sections H,G, or J) because you are more elevated than in Orchestra seating. Good luck!

Given the choice between those orchestra seats and some seats in section J row P, which would you choose?

Whichever seats are closest to the center.

I agree with what playnice said. But since I don't know the number of the seats, and both sets are towards the side, I would go with the Orchestra seats. You really can't go wrong with that section (row J of B) and row P of J is much further back.

I assume you have looked at this: www.carolinaballet.com/IMAGES/seating-rma.gif

Section B should be right in front of the stage. I think the only bad seats in there are the far front right and left of the balcony and way in the back. I would get as close as possible, as the acoustics in Memorial are not that great.
