We are planning to relocate, my husband has a job opportunity in the N. Ridge area. I would love some info before heading down tomorrow...
Are there any subdivisions with a nice pool/tennis and woodsy lots in the area within a short distance to N. Ridge elementary? What types of shopping is nearby? Any neighborhoods where you can walk places or bike trails, parks?? Any info would be most appreciated!! |

I'd suggest you check out the neighborhoods going North on Falls of Neuse Road. Of course, its going to depend on your price range.
Not too sure about walking to North Ridge Elem. North Raleigh tends to be a bit more spread out. The neighborhoods that I'm suggesting are only about 3 miles down the road but 3 miles for walking? Not for ME! Vicki |

North Ridge Elementary is located off Falls of Neuse Road, about 1/2 mile south of Strickland Road. It is close to the North Ridge Country Club, which is also in the North Ridge neighborhood. This is a very large neighborhood with plenty of large homes on nice wooded lots throughout. There are plenty of other neighborhoods nearby - some more expensive, some less expensive. But if you want your child to walk to school, North Ridge is probably the only real choice as Falls of Neuse is a very busy 5-lane road.
There are several strip shopping centers nearby with shopping and restaurants. It is around 2 miles from I-540, and you can get to the nearest mall (Triangle Town Center) fairly quickly. Heading to downtown Raleigh is painful, though, due to traffic. |

I live in the North Ridge area and love it. Not sure if many neighborhoods have clubs/pools in the area but you do have the North Ridge Country Club and Raleigh Racquet Club right there. There is a nice gym (O2) and great grocery (Fresh Market) that we go to pretty much daily. There are great restaurants in the area too, like Stonewood, St. Jacques, Michael Dean's. My wife s a resident at the NC State vet school and it only takes her 15 minutes to get there so travel isn't too bad (but she uses Six Forks instead of Falls/Wake. Takes about 5-7 minutes to get inside the beltline.

If you want your kids to walk to North Ridge Elementary than I would suggest the North Ridge Neighborhood. North Ridge is large though. Not every home is within walking distance. Also NRE is on Harps Mill which is one of the main roads in the neighborhood and cars do sometimes travel fast down that road. Besides North Ridge, I would check out Bent Tree which is not too far down the road with a pool. Home Prices here are expensive though.
The only pool in North Ridge is the Country Club and you have to purchase a membership. Last time I checked it was a little more than $40,000. It is very hard to get into though. You have to know someone that will sponsor you and your names and family picture will be posted in the newsletter asking for any objections or comments. |

We are currently looking for a ranch style home in Northridge. Does anyone know of anything coming on the market?

Millbrook Park has a Community Pool and great Tennis Center that the City of Raliegh provides for a nominal user fee. It's only 3 minutes from Northridge. So, if you don't want or need to joing the Northridge Country Club...there's two facilities and a park "Millbrook Park" adjoining the High School out on Spring Forest Road.
We've used the facilities and found them excellent. |
