I did not expect NC to be like New England.

sounds like a bad case of homesickness...which is understandable. Only u know if ur capable of being happy here. I gave Charleston a year and a half and realized I missed being a north carolinian and came back home.

Then why are you complaining that it's not like what you just left? You either choose to be happy here and learn what this area offers that appeals to you or you go back to what you are used to.

I love it here. I wish I could move all our family here. If I could then I would never want to leave. Since I can't tho I really want to go back.

Trust your gut. I think NC is "fine" but have lived in places I like much more. To each his own.

We could find lots of fruit and vegetable stands well within a half an hour of my hometown/city. We didn't need to travel to another town.
But thanks for your post. I'll look for the stands next time I go to Morehead City.

I think I remember reading some of your posts before you moved here and replied that you sounded homesick already even though you were still there. But I really understand how you feel. I'm not so sure everyone gets used to the heat, either. Having lived in NE for a brief time, I still miss it. It felt like home like nowhere else. Too bad it's too expensive up there, real estate, taxes, utilities.
best,
toodie

You know, I thought I had a lot to say on this, but I was annoying myself with my response.
Good luck to you on your decision. Better to lose some money on another move than to be miserable.
But just to add some context, my husband and I moved here in 2005. We are fairly friendly, outgoing people. I especially am very resourceful and have no fear of being the "new kid" in almost every gathering/group I have been lucky to be part of. Even so, we are still just starting to really grow roots here and make actual friends (as opposed to "hi how are you" acquaintances.)
You either decide to make it home or not. Get another place to live, meet new people, join new groups. There is a place for you if you want it. Just figure out if you do or you don't. If you don't, move on. No shame in making mistakes.

Connecticut and Vermont are home to me. I realize I could never live there the way I do here. You can have Lowell/Norwich/Warwick.................I'm doing just fine here in NC!!!!
