Thumbs up ►Best of the Triangle 2009◄

The independent weekly has released it's reader's choice of "Best of the Triangle" for 2009. As usual there are some great picks, while others seem off the mark. Check it out for yourself and see if you agree. I always find a few gems worth checking out.

Best of the Triangle 2009

A few of the "best of" picks for 2009:

Best romantic restaurant: Second Empire ~ Raleigh

Best Steak: Angus Barn ~ Raleigh

Best barbecue: Allen & Son ~ Chapel Hill

Best bakery: Guglhupf ~ Durham

I'm surprised that Wolf Camera won in the Best Camera/Video Store category over local places like Peace and Southeastern.

I had always thought that the whole point of this "best of" was to highlight those things that make the Triangle special. I think these big national or regional chains should be disqualified. That's just my opinion.

I disagree. If it's good it's good and that's all that matters.

I think the better title for this list is "the most popular" not "the best." Still, I'm always interested to see what others are interested in. I've discovered many places I was unfamiliar with through this list in the past.

It is probably because more of the "average" people know of Wolf, more of the photo enthusiast know about Peace and Southeastern. Just by numbers people probably picked Wolf cause they see them everywhere.

There is no doubt in my mind that Peace and Southeastern can run cirlces around Wolf when it comes to knowledge and selection for the most part.
