The weather seemed to get delayed a bit, but a strong front is about to head into this area. Please stay alert.

Stay alert indeed. Having worked extensively in the past as a NWS Certified Severe Weather spotter I can vouch that this time of the year is when the nasty storms come out of nowhere. I have my various radios on public safety & the Skywarn frequency of 146.880Mhz (WB4TQD repeater).

As these storms having been moving east, there has been a lot of bow echo formation. That is what makes me think it might get interesting here in a bit.

I recently purchased a weather radio mainly for severe weather alerts that may occur during the night while I'm sleeping. Plus you get the most up to date local weather forecast at the push of a button.

NOAA does weekly tests of the system so you know the radio is working properly.
I'll admit that I never before thought it was important to have a weather radio, but I think it is a good investment because many killer storms and tornado's have hit during the night time hours when most victims were sleeping and unaware of sudden severe weather conditions.

Having a weather radio with battery backup can be just as important as having smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the home that could save the lives of a person or family.
