Default Beaver in my backyard !

A beaver totally cruised thru my backyard yesterday. It was the size of a large housecat. Could it have been a woodchuck?

What makes you ask if it might be a woodchuck if you thought it was a beaver (the tail should have been a giveaway).

My vote goes to groundhog. I'm assuming that you didn't get a look at the tail or you'd know. And both can be found around here. But Beavers are active mostly at night. The only other question is whether you are near to water. If not, then it's almost certain to be a whistle pig.

It qwas probably a groundhog. They're pretty big and can look like a beaver from the front for sure! They tail is usually different. I've seen SEVERAL of them lately. Maybe they are bredding now or something.
We had a huge deer run through our yard this week. It was freaky! I know they're all over the place, but I've NEVER seen one in my neighborhood in central/downtown Cary!

My sister saw horses grazing in my parents yard the last two days?!?!?!? Someone finally came and round them up with pitt bulls. Wish she took pictures.
