Default A morning in Raleigh...

It is nice and sunny outside, I woke up hearing the birds, there is a cool breeze in the air, I could almost wear a light jacket. But will get warm soon and then cool down again for the evening. I went for a walk and my dogs loved played around the lake while I observed the geese paddling quietly in perfect synchronization. I sat down on the bench and started thinking about the landscaping and decoration for my brand new house currently being built in Holly Springs. Life is good

And that's all it takes to wipe away any discussions about bugs, weather, overcrowding, etc....isn't it?

I was just down at my house in Matthews last weekend and felt the same as you. When is your house supposed to be finished?

I haven't seen any bug here other than an ocasional small one or two and a few ants on my plants outside.

weather i love it. i grew up near a tropical forest so it feels like home.

overcrowding is a concern, there is a major road being expanded but there will be more issues to be addressed.

My house will only be finished in January so it will be a long wait! But I am living in a quite comfortable apartment so I'll be OK. How about yours?

Hi Grass Is Greener,
We just moved into Holly Glen subdivison in Holly Springs. We love it here! The weather today is perfect. If only it stayed this way the rest of summer....

Grass is Greener,
Our house has been ready and waiting. We wanted our daughter to finish up the school year, and now just tying up some loose ends with my husband's job. Can't wait.

Well, yours won't be ready until January, but at least you are there, right?
Good luck with everyhing!

Thanks Grass is Greener for bringing a smile to face today. After all of the negative posts, both on here and the NY forum, it was great to read something positive. Some of those posts were starting to get to me. That really surprised me because being an adult, actually way an adult, I can figure out that some people are just miserable and want to lash out. But your post is great because people will read it and see someone happy. And younger people might not be scared away.
I know also that there are alot of positive people on this forum and am grateful to them. My husband has asked a few questions and received helpful and kind replies. I guess I should say we are looking to relocate from south FL. We spent a week in Raleigh last May and loved it. As soon as our situation allows in the upcoming year, we are planning to move there. I found the people to be very kind and welcoming. And we are looking to adapt to what is a wonderful area.
Thanks again

I second catrick sentiments that it is nice to see some postives here...as you stated some people are just miserable and will be that way no matter where they are, and they are here because misery loves company...

Happiness too is a state of mind, the rest is just geography

Absolutely! I don't hate where we live. Okay, sometimes I do, but I would never bash this area. It is really economics. We purchased our townhouse 7 years ago for !30,000. Now it's worth 350,000. That's crazy. Most homes in the area are over 500,000. We cannot afford that nor can most families. And to move elsewhere in the state we would pay higher taxes on the home we purchase. There are many plusses to living in Florida. And it will be a tradeoff on some things i.e. we have no state income tax and my husband's retirement is not taxed. But we loved the area up there and miss the "seasons" and my husband who lived in earthqake California hates the hurricane season. (go figure that one out) We are just looking to continue our happy life here up in NC. Change is good sometimes if you are ready for it.

As you said, it is really a state of mind.

Thanks

It's true, I can't say that every one will be kind and welcoming, but so far it has been such a pleasure to see people smiling and saying good morning and being kind. Coming from an area that was rated the most unwelcome and unfriendly in the country, it's a wonderful change.

One more recommendation would be to talk to people you know who lives or lived in the area you are planning to relocate. When I did my research, a friend of a friend told me so many great things about NC (Chapel Hill) and how much she wanted to move back here. Florida was actually my first choice but after having friends dealing with hurricane damages there I had to cross it out.
