Walmart in Cary (Tryon and Kildaire) had it today. Wanted to try it and see what all the hype is about but couldn't bring myself to spend the almost $6. Maybe I'll crack and buy some this weekend.

Breyers ice cream is sold in 1.5 quart containers (48 oz.)
Blue Bell is sold in 1/2 gallon containers (64 oz.)

Lowes Foods sells Breyers for $5.59, or 11.6 cents per ounce.
Let's say Blue Bell is $6.00 for 64 ounces. That comes to 9.4 cents per ounce.

At non-sale prices, Blue Bell will cost less. However, I usually wait for ice cream to go on sale before buying it. Not this time, though - I got a hold of a bunch of coupons.

They also sell pint sizes, so if you want to try it without committing to an entire half gallon, you can save a little money.

As for those who feel the need to pooh-pooh Blue Bell, whatever. That just means more for us.

Claire, where/how did you get Blue Bell coupons?

I am so glad that BB is going to be available here now but this is so not good for my diet.

I went to our local Walmart at Triangle Town Center, and they were stocked. They had a huge endcap as well as some in the normal freezer section.

They had a ton of flavors including Chocolate Dipped Strawberries, Strawberry Banana Poundcake, Pistachio Almond, Coconut Fudge, Banana Split, Banana Pudding, and many more.

Whatever you think about Blue Bell...you can't deny that for carton-based ice cream, they certainly have unique flavors.

I was chatting with the manager at the grocery store, and mentioned how happy I was that Blue Bell was coming. As we were in the checkout line, he walked up and handed them to me.

At the Blue Bell website, you can get a coupon to print right now for $1 off a 1/2 gallon.
(Thanks, Bill)

Thanks Claire! You convinced me to go back. We enjoyed a bowl last night and it is pretty good!
