Hi Folks

4th July is coming up and this year I'd like to get some fireworks... we have family coming in from out of town and thought we'd have a nice big party. There will be kids aged 5-10 years old so I am looking for fireworks that look pretty and maybe go more "woosh" than "bang" if you know what I mean? Want something readily accessible in the triangle. I see Harris Teeter, Food Lion et al have their stock out already but any recs on the best place to buy in the Triangle?

Thanks in advance for all help

If I'm not mistaken most if not all the fireworks sold in Wake County are of the "fountain" variety. I don't think you can buy things like rockets or roman candles that "shoot" things.

I'm sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong.

NRG - maybe everyone goes to SC!? This will be our fourth 4th of July in Bedford and there are usually some pretty loud fireworks going off around the 'hood and over in Wakefield.

I was going to say go to South of the Border. They have awesome fireworks at a decent price.

I am interested to know too...all Ive seen here are the fountains.

You need to get mortars and cakes...the real deal in commercial fireworks. None of these roman candle/fountain/bottle rocket toys...

You will see fireworks for sale at sams, costco, some shopping center parking lots. The fireworks are pretty wimpy compared to what you can get in SC. As someone mentioned they are "fountain" variety.

The class of fireworks available in SC are illegal in NC. Knowing that people still shoot them off.
these locations look pretty good. SOUTH CAROLINA Fireworks Locations (http://www.fireworks.com/locations/south-carolina.asp - broken link)

Yep.
Pedro will help you out with armament.

And now that we know our bars are open on the 4th, we will have "The Perfect Storm."
