Does the Triangle Area have a Parks & Recreation booklet that goes out seasonally? I know back in my hometown (Ft. Wayne, IN) we received one in the mail sharing what activities were offered for everyone for that particular season.
Just curious to know...if so, can someone let me know if it's available online? Anyone been a part of the Parks & Recreation in the area (employee, participant, kids participated, etc)?
I don't know about a booklet, but here's their website: City of Raleigh | Leisure (http://www.raleighnc.gov/portal/server.pt?space=CommunityPage&cached=true&parentna me=Gateway&parentid=None&in_hi_userid=2&control=Se tCommunity&PageID=0&CommunityID=209 - broken link)
I think you're looing for the "Leisure Ledger" (if you're looking for Raleigh). Here is a more direct link to the Summer 2009 one. (They don't make it easy!) City of Raleigh | Directory
Try calling the Sertoma Arts Center at Shelley Lake on Millbrook -- maybe they have a print copy or they'll know where to get one. It's the size of a magazine.

The City of Raleigh / Leisure link above is probably what you are looking for, but if you want a physical copy of the booklet you can pick them up at most of the area parks. If you are looking to sign up for classes through the city you can click on Rec Link http://reclink.raleighnc.gov/Start/S...988.8838847569
My kids have taken several activities through the city (t-ball, baseball, swimming lessons, taekwondo, and will take soccer this summer). Some of the facilities are nicer than others, but there is a pretty wide range of activities that they offer.
As other posters have said, each city has their own P&R program. In my experience with Wake county, Raleigh and Cary have the most extensive. And also remember that Wake county itself has lots of parks, with activities at each park.
I've taken my child to "story time" at Bass Lake in Holly Springs, swimming lessons at Raleigh's Lake Johnson, and nature programs at Wake County's Crowder Park. I haven't been to anything in Cary yet because their fees are kinda high for non-residents.
Oh, and I'm from Indiana too! (Kokomo though, not Ft. Wayne)
Do you like NC? I'm assuming you're in Raleigh...
