online college courses??
I am looking to take a class to finish my degree. Here is what i am looking for.
Inexpensive
preferably online
preferably self paced or roling start date
it needs to be an acredited institution for the credit to transfer. I know this is a tall order but if anyone has any input i would appreciate it.

What class is it? You can try the community colleges. Otherwise, ECU has a large online program. Probably won't be self paced though.

Most colleges repackage courses from ed2go.com. Depending upon the college, they offer the same courses at differing rates earning differing credits. Because it's online, you can take it from a college that isn't necessarily local.
Here's a direct link to start: ed2go online course catalog for non-credit courses; adult & continuing education You can see which colleges offer the course via link in the course description. You'll also have to go to the specific college to see which ones will offer you credit.

Durham Tech has course offerings online. You must enroll just like any other class, but the bulk of the course is taken via online access, from what I've been told (although some require in person testing, in some cases).

Bottom line is there are tons of places out there to fill your need, but we would need to know what class(s) you need. How long ago did you stop taking classes at your previous college, or was it just recently?

I've taken 3 courses through ed2go in the last 6 months (C++, intro to Java, intermediate Java). All were $55 and . . . . .well. . . . you get what you pay for.
You don't mention what kind of classes you want. Computer courses seem to be the most popular online classes.

I would NOT suggest Strayer. While they will accept a good portion of your credits, the online classes are very expensive ($1500-ish) and the quality of the instruction and books just plain sucks. I took one class per quarter for a year, and the first one was good, the rest were horrible. They sell you these 'Strayer only' customized books, and the place you buy them from rarely will buy them back, if they do it might be for $10 after you paid $100 for it. What a waste of money and I learned a big lesson there.
Like a few others have said ECU is supposed to have a great online program and I plan on checking into that. If you do try a school like UOP, Strayer, Devry, check what kind of books they use.
Good luck.
