Car Stereo Installation
I am going to be purchasing a new stereo for my car. I'm not so sure I want to attempt it myself and have not had much luck searching the Internet for places. Do you know of any good businesses that deal with car electronics and stereo installation? I live in Cary, but wouldn't mind going to Raleigh or Apex. Thanks!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Shawn @ 919 Motoring. I've been dealing with car audio for 16 years now and he has proven to me his honesty and integrity when it comes to customer service.

Crutchfield is the best with instructions and making sure you have all the right parts for your car stereo installation. They are a bit more than the competition, but it's worth it if you need the help.
I have done a few DVD NAV installs with steering wheel controls on my cars. What are you trying to install into what type of car?

True, Crutchfield does include step-by-step instructions but you still have to have common 12V electrical knowledge. You will also pay more for the product through Crutchfield. Personally, why not support the local economy by purchasing it from a reputable local shop? The price you pay for the product plus installation will equal the price you pay for just the product from Crutchfield. Plus, if the product breaks you carry it back to the local shop for support rather than having to remove it yourself from the car, package it up, and mail it back to Crutchfield.

I would check out Tint World (morrisville/cary area) or next level customs on glenwood. If it is a simple just putting in a new stereo, it is very simple and crutchfield is great.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have a 2007 Nissan Frontier. I was looking at ordering from Crutchfield because it comes with the install kit and everything, but didn't realize it may be cheaper ordering and having it installed by a business. I really don't trust myself to do the installation. I've got in contact with 919 Motoring and will see if they can give me an estimate. I'll look into the others too. Thanks.

I bought a new car stereo at Best Buy across from Triangle Town Center. Installation was free and I have no complaints about the work. However, I can't remember if the free install was a limited time promotion.

Audio Express
I've primarily used them for installs since 1991. I was excited to see they are still around (last visit was maybe 6 years ago). I'll be going back when we purchase our next vehicle. I am excited to see they have price matching even from on-line retailers as long as they are authorized resellers. That makes it a no brainer over Best Buy or Crutchfield for me. I've also used Creative Acoustics off Atlantic but I think they went out of business a few years ago.
Audio Exchange on Hillsborough St. is good too, knowledgeable guy but he's an audiophile eccentric... so don't expect warm fuzzies or hand holding, but he's good. While he doesn't have the best prices (at least not last I worked with him) there is a reason why the shop is still around.

Hubby has had both of our cars done at Best Buy in Knightdale without any problems so we highly recommend them. We purchased some things from Crutchfield and had them install it and some things we bought from Best Buy to be installed. Best Buy has price matching and they also will take out your stereo equipment for free if say you sell your car and want to take it out.
