We really like Dock Street Oyster Bar. It's about a block from the water in Wilmington on Dock Street (duh). I would describe it more as casual than "nice" but we have gone there every year on our Wilmington trip and it's always good. They offer broiled/steamed stuff rather than fried, but the seafood is always fresh and tasty and the sanitation scores always high.

I remember trips to Jimbos and the Goody Goody Omlet House. Oh, the waffles!!! My mouth is watering. I haven't been in years though. Must go back and try them.

I always wondered if the owner had sold the other locations to some one else. I love the Oleander Dr one.... love both the steak & cheese and the tuna salad... it's not over loaded w/ mayo like so many places and they use crisp apples in it. Yum!! Not to mention their tea is ALWAYS right on. Some places are hit or miss. But their tea is always perfect.

Giorgio's pleasantly suprised me. The servings are also big enough for 2! And the bread.... yum!
Like I said before I haven't been to Heironymous in a long time. But even then I remember thinking the same thing as your review.

If you like PT's there is now one in Chapel Hill a block off Franklin Street on E. Rosemary. PT's burgers and fries are awesome!

Yeah I had heard that, and my wife and I have wanted to go by there so, so many times...we're just never in the area (live in Clayton). Whenever we go to Wilmington to visit my family though, a trip to PT's for my wife is required

Um, you're not a local now! Triangle people know the restaurants here and there, so they'd know what was special there over what is here. And locals might be promoting their own workplaces. (I've been to a couple awful restaurants at other beaches over the years, so I was thinking of those. For some reason, the awful places had customers, and I assume they were locals.)

I really don't understand why you wouldn't want to know that the locals' know. I would much rather learn the ins and outs of the local dining scene instead of being sucked into the vortex of the tourist eating factories.

It's not a scientific survey. (If coastal locals want to respond, I promise not to make a citizen's arrest.)
And if Triangle people enjoyed being sucked into the vortex of tourist eating factories, then I wanted to know about them.

We always liked Big Daddy's in Kure Beach for our fix of fried seafood. It's not too far down the road from Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach.
