Default Buying new car right after move

Quick question, we are planning on buying a minivan(gulp) soon after we move. Is it best to go to DMV first and change our plates on our trade-in or let the car dealership handle that? Only 2 weeks until moving day! Thanks in advance for any input!

It's always easier to let the dealership handle that.

Do NOT goto the DMV!!

Just let the dealership get you new NC plates when you buy the car. Then, take your old plate and mail it back or do whatever your former state requires to de-activate that plate.

That'll save you some time and money. If you get a new plate ahead of time then you'll end up having to go back to the DMV to change the vehicle info. Totally not worth it...
