It's not just in Durham...it's everywhere! Some of it does blow out of the garbage trucks as I have personally wittnessed it but still to much is just tossed by people. It's very sad some people have such little regard for this beautiful country!

Lets remember to call the local police numbers and keep the 911 for real emergencies like when McDonalds run out of Chicken McNuggets

I can't believe that in this day and age people actually throw trash from the car window. That just blows my mind. I guess litterers are just causalities of evolution; they are the ones left behind and unenlightened.

Are you kidding? Litter bugs don't litter in their own neighborhoods. That would be rude. Also, you teach manners, not manors.

I live near a 7-11. The kids go there, get their junk food, and leave the wrappers as they walk away from the seven. I live just about far enough away to drink a soda and ditch it on my street.

you mean etiquette and manners? i think edicts and manors started in europe in the middle ages....

jk, but yeah, this type of thing really gets me too. like when you see on the side of the road a spilled bag of mcdonald's trash... like who raised you? i actually stopped at a red light in a city about 10 years ago with my gf and her friend in the car, and her friend opens my door, deposits her bag of fast food trash on the ground and closes the door again. i was flabbergasted.

i wish the penalty for throwing stuff out your window was a 1-year license suspension. hard to catch people, but at least there's a strong deterrent.

Those sorts are just plain evil in my book. Littering is more stupidity than evil - IMOP.

Littering is appalling no matter where it happens. And I agree with many that indicate that the person littering is ignorant, stupid and without regard to community standards, if not without any for themselves. I imagine that, yes, their own home is a pigsty (no offense to actual swines).

Anyway, appreciate the link and comments everyone!
