How to find babysitting jobs
As I continue to look for work, I am looking to babysit so I have at least a little income. It's too late for summer nannying positions, as the summer is half over and that's apparently what every college student here does in the summer! So what I'm looking for now is to just babysit for some folks when they need it occasionally such as a night out. I have advertised on care.com and craigslist.org. I did get one sitting job off of care.com but most there are looking for a nanny who can commit to a year or more, which I can't. CL gets flooded so quickly with stuff that I'm sure no one even seen my ad. Any suggestions for better places to place an ad? I am going to call my church today and see if they have somewhere I can post it, but that's the only idea I've come up with. Thanks in advance.

I read in Carolina Parenting magazine that Sitter Search just opened up here in Raleigh. Also, you could apply at drop-in care centers. Also Parent's Relief is a local baby-sitting company that places sitters. Also maybe check with local sororities (if you're in college). I have heard of a UNCC sorority that has a babysitting service where parents email in, and they find out whose interested to reply. Worth a shot. Good luck! If I didn't just find a fabulous UNCC student to babysit, I'd interview you myself.

I agree - local community colleges sometimes keep a listing

I've used Sitter Connection to find sitters. Sitter Connection - Babysitter Referral Service for Raleigh, Cary, Wilmington
Does your church have Vacation Bible School? Or even just Sunday School? If you volunteer there and the kids like you, then the parents will probably ask if you babysit (or you could mention to them that you do).

You said you placed an ad on CL but did you read the want ads on there? Under part time there are baby sitting, nanny ads as well as other type of "care" ads on there almost every day.

Craigslist is dangerous.
Do not go to meet any supposed customers alone.
