Great place to meet people! (group meetings, etc) (Raleigh: moving to, friendly)

I think this might have been mentioned on the board before, but I thought it would be fun to bring it up again.

www.meetup.com is a place that has "group" meetings on all sorts of subjects! Everything from singles to board game groups to "The Raleigh "We Speak Yankee" Meetup Group".

Anyway, I know alot of people are in the area with nothing to do and looking for people with the same interests. I think this is definately something worth looking in to!

If any members on this board from meetup.com, please tell us about your experience. I can't wait to join the movie group!

I haven't joined the NC one but have been involved in the Tampa ones -- will join NC as soon as I get up there -- they are really great! People are generally really friendly and you can always find something to do. In fact Meetup.com is why I don't mind moving to the Triangle only knowing one person!

I joined a CA transplant group. We meet for occasional dinners out. I have been to one meeting. It was nice. You get a very broad range of people which is nice.
