Default best hotel

my wife is in the hotel business,
what is the best hotel Currently in raleigh(in your opinions0,besides the umstead.
Any opinions on the umstead would be appreciated as well

Try the Washington Duke in Durham, The Siena in Chapel Hill or The Fearrington Inn in Pittsboro (i think). Don't know much about the Umstead since it is new.

would any of those be a realistic commute if you lived in north raleigh or say just south of downtown raleigh

Depends on your definition of "realistic." :-) Getting to the Umstead from south of downtown Raleigh is easy by car. It's easy to get to the others, too, but you have to fight *all* the Research Triangle Park traffic, and then turn up the Durham Freeway and/or head over to Chapel Hill/Chatham County.

Is there a desired length/time of commute? Also, would your spouse necessarily be working "first shift" business hours or a different schedule?
