Hi, We are moving in a house at the end of the month. It has a satellite dish (not sure what company) by the side of the house. We haven't decided yet if we will get TWC or satellite service. If we do get cable, how can i get rid of this dish? Who would i contact to get rid of the thing? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

Worst case scenario, I imagine you could give it away on Craigslist ... ???

Hmm...my house is under contract, and it has a satellite dish - I was thinking of getting it removed and taking it with me. Can we not do that? It was not listed on the purchase contract...

When I left Texas the Dish network told me to just leave the thing on my house and they would supply a new dish when I got here. The only thing they cared about was the converter box and the remote.

My sister recently quit a different company and they didn't want their dish back either. Normally the dish will say what company it belongs to on it, so you could call them up and see if they want it back but I bet they don't.

I assume it is an 18inch or similar, not an 8ft dish. Leave it until you decide on satellite or cable. If you decide on satellite, use it or if it is the competitors dish, have the dish company you select use the location and remove the other dish. They are not "required" to, but it is easy and they will not have to install another mount. If you decide on cable, they are simple to remove. If it is a big dish... craigslist or dismantle. They are not that hard to dismantle either.

When we bought our house I removed it myself and took it to the recycle center on Rt 98. Bid it fairwell and a-do! It was that easy. Have Dish Network now and made sure they did not mount it on the house but in the yard. This makes disposal easier in the future.
