My wife and I just moved to NC, and are about to get our car registered. My wife, however, is in no hurry to get her license. If the car is under both of our names, can I get the car registered without my wife? Or do we both need a NC license and be present to register?

The car is still being payed off, so the lien holder still has the title.

Thanks!

Your wife will need to get a NC driver's license within 60 days, so why not get it done all at once?

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can still register the car here without your wife. It might depend on your title from the state you're coming from, though. I know the state I moved from only put 1 persons name on the title (even if there was a 2nd person on the loan) so in that case I don't think you need the co-buyer.

How long do you have to register your car here once you move? I know its 60 days for your license but not sure about registering your car?
