Looking for a recruiter for SAS
Hi all, as many of you have noted, SAS is a great company to work for, but difficult to get hired. My husband has been interested in SAS for a while and they have a couple of positions posted right now that he is ideal for. It seems like they are one of those companies who post their positions on their website, but more likely use recruiters when hiring from outside.
I am wondering if anyone knows of a recruiter who does placements for SAS? We're currently located in NJ but want very much to relocate (in this case, to Atlanta, but that's where the two available SAS positions are). If anyone has a name, I would be so appreciative - even if they don't do the Atlanta positons, they may be able to point us in the right direction.
Thanks in advance for your help!

As far as I know, SAS doesn't use recruiters. They don't have to. They have thousands of resumes coming to them every month. They have in-house HR and a rigorous and (somewhat) mysterious process that not even the employees quite understand. I've been told that getting into SAS is like breaking into Fort Knox.

Not sure if you mean agencies or internal recruiters... However, SAS does use agencies for contract roles so in that sense they do use recruiters (they do have internal corporate recruiters also), however if I had to guess on that role they are not using agencies. Also, if he has submitted his resume to them directly for that role already, there is nothing a outside recruiter can do for you.

Go to linkedin.com and search people for SAS recruiter. Several come up when I do it. Of course, you may or may not be able to see their names, depending on your connections within the linkedin system (groups, etc.). So, your mileage may vary.

SAS does use external agencies for contract roles. Currently there is somewhat of a freeze on contract positions unless the business case is made by the end user. Open positions on their website will be filled internally and most likely on a referral basis.
That being said, use the correct channels to start. If you go contacting internal recruiters directly without being referred then you will probably just end up pi**ing them off. What roles are they? I ask because you may be able to determine the hiring manager for the roles on LinkedIn which would be a better resource but again, don't reach out directly without a referral. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your responses! I was asking if there were external agencies that they use, not that I wanted to make anyone angry by trying to circumvent a process. He's in a sales capacity, that's what he would be looking for. I appreciate all of your suggestions!

I am not aware of them using any external agencies for sales positions (they don't use them for perm unless it's contract to perm but SAS does not believe in paying for perm placement fees so no companies do direct placement with them if I am not mistaken).
Best bet is to just follow the proper channel. As I mentioned, I think they use outside agencies for clerical/admin, IT, tech support, design and marketing and contractors only.

Honestly, your best bet is to apply through the website and hope you get a call back. You're not really going to get ahead of the process by reaching out anywhere else. Good luck!

Two people very close to me were hired for permanent positions at SAS in the past three years. Neither of them used a recruiter, and they both just applied through the website. However, the second to be hired was given a recommendation by the person who already worked there. So if you know someone who already works there, ask them to put in a good word.
Certain positions carry a recruitment bonus for employees who refer someone who gets hired, but I think those are only for positions that are very difficult to fill.
