Hi - my family recently moved to Raleigh. We have a great backyard and deck but rarely get to enjoy it because of all the bugs. The bugs here are awful! It is really nice outside at nights so we are considering converting part of our wrap-around deck into a screened-in porch.
Can anybody comment on:
1) How easy is it to convert a deck into a screened-in porch?
2) What is the roof of a screened-in porch made of?
3) Will bugs be able to get in through the floor of the deck (the spaces between the panels)?
4) Does anybody know approximately how much this project would?
I'm getting a screened porch built, so here's my input on your questions:

2) What is the roof of a screened-in porch made of? My roof is going to be wood, with shingles that match my house roof.
3) Will bugs be able to get in through the floor of the deck (the spaces between the panels)? No, you screen underneath the deck.
4) Does anybody know approximately how much this project would? Hard to say - getting some quotes is the best way for you to find out. Just to give you an idea, I had quotes of $14-17K for a brand new 12x16' screened porch and 10x16' deck, about 6 foot off the ground.
Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
