Many of the homes along Maynard had parts of their front yards taken back for the road expansion. I don't know if this is why that sign is out there or not but I think it may be a possibility. Most homes have an 8' easement on their property for utilities etc. Most of us think the city will never take it but often times it happens.

True, my parents live on a somewhat major road in Raleigh, they've been there around 35 years. Lately it seems like the city has taken 2-4 feet every 7 years.

This is probably what happened. They've been widening Maynard Road on that particular strretch since last year. Most of the homes on that stretch now have a road lane where their front yard used to be.

The road construction has long since been finished.

Why spray paint your house with the letters "Screwed by Town of Cary" well after the construction? That is pretty major and require repainting the house to undo.

I suspect The Town of Cary probably promised a sidewalk and backed off because of budget issues.

Unhappy RE: House Spraypainted "Screwed by Cary"

Take a look at the location of his driveway and the carport. I expect the hill was too high to put the driveway in the previous position, and he has lost his entire yard. Hard place to be -- check right-of-ways when buying a house -- particularly on a well-traveled thoroughfare. You never know when the road-widening crowd will come thru!

I guess that is what you do when you feel helpless.

Maybe they were going to repaint anyways.
