I haven't found any here like that - in sandwich form. I will try your recommendation though.

Someone should open a restaurant that only serves the back-home delicacies some people seem to crave so much. They'd be rich quick. Especially since location doesn't matter, folks would drive 30 minutes to get some.

Went back tonight. It was less than good this time. I'll give them another shot.

I actually love this idea - though it would have to have a very large staff...

Have you tried a local Jersey Mike's? If not, go there and state exactly what you want. They will come close. Otherwise, open the restaurant yourself or head back up north! You are not in New England anymore. NC is south of the Mason-Dixon line. We love our traditional favorites!

Yes. I'm going to move back to NE because of a sandwich. But while we're having the conversation.

New England seafood, pizza, local chinese food are all better than anything in NC. D'Angelos blows Jersey Mike's out of the water for quality and price.

Only thing better is when they have fresh oysters too.

Buffalo Beef on Weck, anyone?

I actually came here with dreams of bringing some of that stuff down here but sadly, I don't have the talent to run a business.

And NONE of those franchise places -- Jersey Mike or Jasons Deli really get it right. They can't. They are structured to make money, not to make food. They don't have the old Italian guy behind the counter saying "You want onions on that? Here, I'll fry up some onions for you...." Or the Mom who somehow her sandwich is more delicious than anyone else's sandwich even though it's the same sandwich.
