Washer/Dryer rental advice
Hi all,
I need to rent a washer and dryer for my apartment in Durham for 9 months.
My apt complex suggests using a company called Azuma. Has anyone used them before? Can you tell me about your experience? (Quality of product, maintenance, delivery, cost, etc.)
Do you have any other company recommendations?
Thanks!

We used Azuma.
It was fine - the unit was clean, nothing fancy at all, basic. Installation and pickup was on time and very easy. $32/month for W/D and a $30 pickup charge to have them come get it at the end (you can't drop it off yourself).
For 9 months I'd probably rent. For longer than that I'd buy.

I bought a used Kenmore washer and dryer for $225. I've had them 8 years now. I've even rolled them end over end up and down stairs when moving. Just buy a used set and sell if you don't want to keep.
I really need to get into the rental business if people are paying $30 a month for these things.

This is great, and I know many people like this, but I also know people that have dropped 300 bucks for a set that "runs great - never had any problems!" and a few months later, kaput. Renting, while more expensive, is risk free.

Yes I agree. There is definitely a risk involved.

I also don't have a truck or anyone to help me move them. I'd rather pay an extra $50 to have that and all maintenance taken care of. And I can't make a long-term investment cuz I don't know where I'll be moving at the end of the year (finishing grad school). Thanks for the advice.

Our complex uses Appliance Warehouse and adds it to your rent if you want a set.

I used Azuma because I'm temporarily renting and they have been fine. Our washer actually broke one night and they came the next day and fixed it. They also drop it off, install it and will pick it up when you don't need it anymore.

Well I signed up for Azuma so hopefully it goes well. Next step is finding a cell phone service that has coverage in my apartment...so far tmobile and verizon are both useless...

Dial #226 from your Verizon handset, then select update roaming capability...I think option 2.
