Are they? I don't have any now, but did at my last house and never had an issue. Seems like they're all over in this area. The realtor I used when I first moved here called them "hate bushes." (She said you plant them to screen yourself from your neighbors.)

But if someone does want them, they are very cheap at Broadwells - I think about six bucks last time I was there (about 3' tall).

Definitely be careful of the Leyland Cypresses.... they are a very weak tree with shallow roots & often the whole tree will uproot in heavy storms/hurricanes/ice storms. Then people who have planted a hedge end up with empty spots. In the ice storm of 2002, I along with several of my neighbors lost about 8 of them & I'll never plant them again. There are many great alternatives out there that are less prone to problems. Green Giant Arbovitae is one to look at.

Default watch out for knees

We planted a variety of cypress that grows knees. I would avoid that variety if you could. They easily warp sidewalks and create a tripping hazard.

Sorry, I don't know the variety that we planted (and wish we hadn't)
