If he is your husband, I'd say you can call him whatever you like and he'll still love you!

Pardon me for not condoning racism and classism. I don't think that it is humorous to make fun of white, working class people.

I think a true redneck is proud to be one and would not take offense! In some parts of NC it really is a term of endearment! Don't you listen to country music? People brag about being rednecks. It's ok!!

Some African American hip hop artists and comedians make liberal use of the N word. That doesn't make it okay.

It's also irrelevant. That doesn't make it OK either.

"Redneck" is not a perjorative, unless you are demeaning someone and perverting the origin of the term.
Call me a redneck. I'm OK.

Don't call me a "cracker."

There's plenty of stuff in the world worth outrage. You haven't found one here.

It isn't? I think that you should inform the people at Merriam-Webster.

Quote:
Main Entry: red·neck
Pronunciation: 'red-"nek
Function: noun
1 sometimes disparaging : a white member of the Southern rural laboring class
2 often disparaging : a person whose behavior and opinions are similar to those attributed to rednecks
