The locals are referred to as ...?
So I was thinking ... what do you call the citizens of Chapel Hill? Chapel Hilligans? Chapel Hillers? Chapel Hillians?
And what about those that live in Durahm? Durhamers? Durhamites?
Are Raleigh folk called Raleighians, Raleighers or something else? How about Holly Springers or Wake Foresters? Is everyone just a Triangler?
I could amuse myself with some funny guesses but thought that I ask the group.

I just call everyone, "Folks."
Sometimes preceded by "great.'
I.e., "Great Folks."
Seems to cover it.

It is an interesting questions, because I have lived here most of my life and I have never thought of this! I usually say, "she is from chapel hill", "they live in durham", I have never referred to anyone other than in that way.
Now, you will hear someone who is a native talk about being from north cackalackee...............but that is all I have ever heard

I have to admit I've wonder the same question as the original poster. But Leigh's answer got me to thinking. Do you think natives identify themselves more as a North Carolinian than the town they live in?
Personally, I currently identify myself as a Portlander and not so much an Oregonian (I'm a transplant). And I think I don't see myself as an Oregonian because there is SO much about the state that I don't know or don't really identify with. But I definately am comfortable calling myself a Portlander.
Any natives who identify more as a North Carolinian? And any transplants who identify more as a Durhamite/Raleighite/ Chapel Hillian?

I was born in Greensboro and have lived in Cary, Raleigh, Charlotte, and Chapel Hill. I identify primarily with western North Carolina.

Redneck is loaded word. Some people even consider it a racial epithet. Unless you consider yourself to be one then you probably shouldn't use the term.
